Patient Empowerment Program (PEP) - Week 1

Part of Dr. Vuong's Patient Empowering Program includes going to weekly group meetings. My first meeting was last night. It was great! I learned a few things that I think not only apply to my weight loss journey, but also to life in general. It went something like this:

Attitude is everything!


Negative thoughts lead to negative responses.
Negative responses lead to negative behavior choices.
Negative behavior choices lead to negative consequences.
Negative consequences lead to negative thoughts.
and on and on we go in a vicious cycle.

likewise:

Constructive thoughts lead to constructive responses.
Constructive  responses lead to constructive behavior choices.
Constructive  behavior choices lead to constructive consequences.
Constructive  consequences lead to constructive thoughts.

This is where real positive change will come from.

Instead of saying, "I can't" or "I hate this" or "I can't stand," use positive or constructive words.
Say "I will" or "I choose to."

I am in charge of my happiness.


I choose to follow the counsel from my doctors. I choose to only put real and healthy food into my body. I choose to ignore the negative influences around me and only focus on the things and people who will bring me closer to my goals.
